What To Do When Your Pool Pump Is Faulty?

How do you know when your pool pump is faulty?

The most obvious sign of pump failure is when the pump stops working and you can see that the water in the pool is not flowing. Otherwise, the pump might still work but the sound it produces is louder than usual. And sometimes, the pump might start and stop intermittently by itself.

What To Do When Your Pool Pump Is Faulty

What are my options when your pool pump is faulty?

Firstly, you must determine if it is really the pump that is faulty. There might be other issues that cause the pump to stop such as electrical panel issues that might be misdiagnosed as pump issues. In this case, one might end up changing out a fully functional pump due to misdiagnosis.

Our professionally trained team can check the entire system first before finalizing if the pump is faulty. If it is indeed faulty, one can consider getting the pump repaired and this will be much more affordable. Repairs do come with a limited warranty, but it might still be worth it if the existing pump is a premium pump.

We have a reputable workshop that can fix faulty pumps. However, if the existing pump is of inferior quality, it would be advisable to upgrade to a new one to avoid any recurring issues in the future.

What causes pump to fail prematurely?

On paper, pumps can last many years, up to a decade or more. However, there are many variables that can affect the life span. Such as the location of where the pump is installed. A pump room that is underground may have high humidity due to limited ventilation. This will drastically reduce the lifespan of a pool pump.

Also, if the pump is always subjected to harsh weather (e.g., direct sunlight or frequent rain), its lifespan will be reduced significantly.

Furthermore, a pump that has not used for years can deteriorate too if not kept in ideal conditions. Having said that, a pump cannot last forever as it is made of many moving parts as well as electrical chipsets.
